Makers of the Relonch 291, an APS-C fixed lens camera and digital photo-editing service, hope to transform the way we capture, edit and store images. Built with 20MP Samsung Galaxy technology, Relonch allows users to seamlessly take pictures without having to learn highly complex DSLR’s or sophisticated editing software. All digital pics are stored in a cloud and using AI technology, Relonch selects and processes the best images of the day.

By 9 a.m. the next day, Relonch’s intuitive app delivers what it deems to be the best shots of the day. Designed for those who are intimidated by professional camera equipment, Relonch wants you to hand in your old digital camera in exchange for photo credits. Simply exchange your old camera for market value and you receive a camera, data, access to a companion app, AI editing, and a photo credit. With each selected digital photo costing $1, Relonch encourages trading in your old digital camera to offset some of the costs.
With a $99 monthly subscription fee, you only have to worry about pointing and shooting. With a shutter button, power button, lens, and viewfinder, Relonch is arguably one of the simplest cameras to operate. Once the user presses a single button, the image is uploaded to Relonch’s cloud service and is ready for processing. The company’s artificial intelligence edits the best shots, discards the rest – and even stores the fully edited shots.
Whether it’s their AI intelligence named Alfred or its Pictured Technology editing platform, Relonch comes with an action-packed software suite. Capable of isolating each object within a picture, users end up getting a fully developed digital photo and not just the negative. With the promise to “bring back the feelings and experiences you had while shooting it,” Relonch uses a lens ideal for shooting in any condition.
With a launch date set for “sometime in 2018,” Relonch wants to eliminate the complications associated with photography. “We chose to create the camera as a service model rather than just hardware or software. Our service gives members the ability to solely focus on the experience, on the moment itself,” co-founder Yuri Motin said in an interview with Digital Trends. “There’s nothing valuable about owning a camera that collects dust on the shelf or that you don’t know how to use.”
